The STUDICODE consortium is happy to announce that the first meeting within the “Educators’ Lab” was hosted in a virtual format on December 15, 2021.

The meeting was divided into two parts:

  • An inter-institutional lecture with Q&A session
  • A project-internal discussion round

For the first part, an online learning expert from TUM-MED provided a keynote on the overall steps in developing an online course for students. Based on the broad experience with this topic, Ms Astrid Groß answered questions from participants. In particular, aspects regarding the course outline, course promotion as well as the importance of a consistent colour scheme in infographics and illustrations were discussed.
Goal of this first part was to receive guidance on course preparation and learn about good-practices from this field.

For the second part of the meeting, the STUDICODE consortium discussed what they have learned from the lecture. Furthermore, the group discussed how to transfer the input from the first part into the STUDICODE project. As result of this exchange, the partners came up with a concrete timeline for the course production from building the didactic concept in January 2022 to the course production in June 2022.

The first meeting within the “Educators’ Lab” was a great success and the project team found it to be very inspirational for the STUDICODE course. The training event reached eleven participants from four institutions. As this meeting is considered an Erasmus+ “Learning – Teaching – Training” activity, a summary report will be written by the project lead and will be publically available on: https://www.studicode.med.tum.de/en/results

The next meeting within the “Educators’ Lab” will be held in January 2022 with an expert lecture on “learning styles of university students”.

Background on the “Educators’ Lab”:

The “Educators’ Lab” is a series of four meetings within the STUDICODE project. The meetings aim at upskilling digital teaching competencies of lecturers at the project sites. By inviting guest speakers and follow-up discussions and exchange, the lecturers’ knowledge on online didactics as well as competence in using multimedia teaching formats is aimed to be increased. To assess the impact on the digital competence, an online questionnaire was distributed among the group in preparation of the meeting. This survey is based on the DigCompEdu instrument.
