Educators’ Lab 1 – second meeting supported by a didactics expert

The STUDICODE consortium is delighted to announce that the second meeting within the “Educators’ Lab” was hosted in a virtual format on January 12, 2022. The meeting was divided into two parts again:

  • An inter-institutional lecture with Q&A session

  • A project-internal discussion round

For the first part, a didactics expert from TUM-MED provided a keynote on the overall steps in developing didactic concepts in terms of E-Learning content. Based on his expertise in virtual education concepts Mr. Dr. med. Christopher Holzmann-Littig shared tools and answered questions from participants. Key topics were various Learning Management Systems and their benefits, types of lessons (a/synchronous & flipped classrooms), different forms of providing videos (laying technique, interviews, animations), other ways of imparting content (podcasts, fact sheets) as well as recommendations for achieving high-quality educational content as well as self-assessments for students.

The aim of this first part was to receive ideas for course preparation, get familiar with diverse media elements and learn which formats are preferred by students.

For the second part of the meeting, the STUDICODE consortium discussed what each partner learned from the lecture. Afterwards, the group reviewed the preliminary outline of content for the STUDICODE online course. The course is divided into two parts: joint part and country specific part. The joint part is organized in eight chapters, a knowledge check and evaluation. Moreover, the group discussed to add a COVID-19 section to the chapter on communication or inter-professional collaboration. The expansion of the stigma topic regarding co-morbidities in mental health was part of the discussion as well.

The partners integrated those topics to the timeline of the course (building the didactic concept in January 2022 to the course production in June 2022).

The second meeting within the “Educators’ Lab” was again a huge success and the project team found it to be very useful for the STUDICODE course. As this meeting is part of an Erasmus+ “Learning – Teaching – Training” activity, a summary report will be written by the project lead and will be publicly available on: https://www.studicode.med.tum.de/en/results
